There is a description of each database on this page
4
Choose a database and type in your search term
5
Your results appear in these tabs. This search has 46,337 magazines and 46 books for results.
6
Click on the advanced search tab to refine your search. Type in additional keywords and select documents with full text.
7
Choose dates. You can search before, on, after or between particular dates.
8
With my additional search keywords of recycling and art and limits of full text and dates to search between, I have fewer results to wade through.
9
Scroll down to “The Art of Recycling”. This result tells you the title, the publication, the date, # of pages and words in the article, that it is full text, has PDF pages you can look at, is an essay, and has pictures. Click on the title to go to the next screen.
10
This is the article. Click on “View 2 PDF pages” in the Tools box on the right side of the page.
11
This gives you the scanned in pages of the article just as it appeared in the original magazine. Use your back button to go back to your article page.
12
Click on print preview in the tools box
13
This is how the article will print if you don’t choose the PDF pages or PDF is not an option.
14
If you don’t know what a word in the article means, highlight the word and click on dictionary.
16
Click on “Back to Search Results”
17
To save articles for later: Check the box
18
Click on Marked Items
19
You can view from here or download
20
Refine “within these results” to narrow your results even further Always choose full text
21
This took us from 238 magazines to 19, from 524 news articles to 33, etc.
