Why I Chose This Job I chose this job because when I was 5 my class went to a fire department and they showed us everything they do. Those men really inspired me. While I was growing up I had friends that their dads were firefighters and I always would see them.

What They Do What they do is what it sounds like. They put out fires. They also put out house fires, car fires, forest fires, and any other fires you can think of.

Education and training The training for a fireman is about 4 years or more. The education for a fireman is that you should go to collage and take the fire exam. Plan ahead for the fire exam and if you don’t pass you can take it again.

Job lookout About 19% of all firefighters start out as volunteer firefighters.

Average earnings Some may say that firemen are underpaid. A fireman’s pay depends on how high the population is and how long they have been a firefighter.

Working Conditions Being a firefighter is not an easy job. They must respond to all calls regardless of the weather. Municipal firefighters have different situations than wildland firefighters. A firefighter hast to be careful because they’re dealing with fire and some fires are really dangerous.
