Example: Example: Suppose a student performed exactly the same in 5 th and 6 th grade. Let’s see how the grade weighting affects the students average! 5 TH & 6 TH GRADE GRADING COMPARISON 5 th Grade: Homework: 100% Classwork: 100% Effort: 100% Test Grades: 86 78 91 64 Test Average of 79.75 5 th Grade Final Avg: 100 x.20 = 20 100 x.10 = 10 79.75 x.50 = 39.875 Final Grade: 89.825 or 90% 6 th Grade: Homework: 100% Class Performance: 100% Test Grades: 86 78 91 64 Test Average of 79.75 6 th Grade Final Avg: 100 x.20 = 20 100 x.10 = 10 79.75 x.70 = 55.825 Final Grade: 85.825 or 86%

HOMEWORK GENERAL MATH GRADING RUBRIC 3 Point Response - shows all complete work (graphs, calculations, tables, pictures…) - answers ALL parts of the question(s) 2 Point Response - shows partial work of the problem(s) - answers most parts of the question(s) 1 Point Response - shows limited to almost no work of the problem(s) 0 Point Response - shows no work or effort Students will earn a 0 for any work that is not turned in on time, with no exceptions.

COMPUTATION Computation Homework/Computation Quizzes 2 problems a night except on Friday when the question is open ended Use 4-square on the open-ended question NOT Will NOT be announced each day – students need to just know that they are part of the homework NOT Computation quiz about every two weeks – will NOT be announced

LOCKERS Students will be allowed to go to their lockers during the se designated times: Before and after 1 st and 2 nd Period Between 4 th Period and lunch After 7 th Period Students will not be carrying around the backpacks all day. They should be stored in their lockers. (Morning Binder, Afternoon Binder, & Math Binder) Students will have three main binders (Morning Binder, Afternoon Binder, & Math Binder)
