2 Definitions Advertise: to communicate information through print and digital media about a company's product or service. The information is usually targeted to those the company believes have the most interest in the product or service. Demographics: information regarding the size and characteristics of a particular population of people of interest to advertisers such as their age, gender, income, education, size of household, ownership of home, etc. Advertising is  paid for  a way of promoting products, services  distributes information  form of communication (between manufacture and consumer)  integral part of pop culture  an important economic force

7 Advertising in Canada Revenues for the advertising and related services industry was nearly $6.8 billion in 2008 (this was an increase from $1 billion from 2006). 71, 525 people were employed in the advertising industry in Canada as of 2008. From 2000 to 2009, the share of net advertising dollars related to web based applications jumped from 1.3% to 17.2% The share net of advertising dollars for newspapers dropped by almost half, from 33.4% to 19.2%, for same 9 year bracket.
