Location -The Circus Maximus is located in between the Palestine and Aventine Hills in Rome. -The Cirus Maximus measured 621m in length and 118 in width. -Once the Circus Maximus was built their were other things that were built around it. For example the Senate built a triple arch on the east end. Also Domitian connected his palace to the Circus Mximus so he could view races easier.

Origin -The Circus Maximus is the first and largest Chariot Racing Stadium in Ancient Rome. - The first people to use the Circus Maximus for public entertainment and games were the Etruscan Kings of Rome. -The Circus Maximus was supposedly built by Tarquinnius Priscus. -The Circus Maximus was built in the 6th century B.C -In 50 B.C Julius Caeser expanded the CIrcus Maximus so that could hold over 270,000 spectators.

Importance/Use - The most common events held at the Circus Maximus were Chariot races where there were two chariots being drawn by four horses. -Occasionally Circus Maximus held events events like gladior combats. -Other events held here were wild animal hunts, athletic events and processions.
