The tundra is split into two different types: Arctic and Alpine
The Tundra has extremely cold climate.
Low Biotic diversity
Simple vegetation structure
Short season of plant growth

The growing season ranges from days
The average temperature in the winter is -30 degrees F. The average summer temperature is degrees F.
Over 1,700 types of plants
No deep root systems
A layer of frozen soil called Permafrost exists in the arctic Tundra.

The Arctic Tundra has many plants including:
Low shrubs
Sedges(a type of grass)
Reindeer mosses
Liverworts
Grass
400 varieties of flowers

Fish: Cod, flatfish, salmon, and trout
Insects: Mosquitos, moths, grasshoppers, and arctic bumblebees.

Carnivores: foxes, wolves, and polar bears
Herbivores: lemmings, voles, caribous, arctic hares, and squirrels.
