5. Concept: Simplifying Rational Functions
Begin by factoring everything
GCF
simple trinomials
difference of squares
perfect square
complex trinomial
Cancel out factors that are present in numerator and denominator
State restrictions on anything that has ever been in the denominator

Factor everything first
Multiplication: cancel out factors in common between either numerator and denominator
Division: multiply by the reciprocal of the second fraction (flip it!), then cancel factors
