3.  Mercury is the first planet from the sun.  Mercury was named after the swift roman messenger god.  Mercury is a bare rocky planet with deep craters.

4.  Earth is one of the inner planets.  Earth is the third planet from the sun.  Earth is the only planet that can support live.

5.  Venus was named for the roman god of love and beauty.  Venus means beauty.  Venus is the second planet from the sun.

6.  Mars was named for the roman god of war.  It is often called the red planet  Mars is only half the size of earth.

7.  Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun.  It is the biggest planet in the solar system.  Jupiter is twice as large as the other eight planets put together.

8.  Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun  like Jupiter Saturn is a gas gaint  Many rings orbit Saturn

9.  Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun.  a year on Uranus is 84 earth days  Uranus has 10 small moons and 5 large moons.

10.  A year on Neptune is 165 earth years long.  One day is about 16 earth hours long.  Neptune has faint rings.

11.  Pluto has one moon.  It is also the coldest planet in the world  Pluto is the smallest planet in the solar system.
