When we add ‘ed’ to words with a short vowel ending with one consonant, we usually have to double the last letter. hop - hopped beg – begged Can you think of some examples? Jot them down.

Now look carefully at words ending in ‘e’

With words ending in ‘e’, we simply take away the ‘e’ and add ‘ed’, otherwise it would read: Danceed Likeed
