After the Civil War After the Civil War Slavery was outlawed, but the newly freed slaves lives were no fairy tale. Even though there weren’t slaves they still faced hardship like segregation. Blacks had to attend different schools, libraries, restaurants, etc and if Blacks did anything to rebel against these rules they would be severely beaten, lynched, or put in a jail.
