Rugby 320 SG & 410/420 DG Designed for Simplicity
Simplicity – The state or quality of being simple. The absence of complexity. The specific intent in the original design of the Rugby grade lasers was to ensure ease of use. Only five buttons – Power, Grade, Star, Up and Down. Large, easy to read display – Clearly identifies the grade entered and other setup parameters. Automatic – Always powers up in automatic mode.

Raised alignment sights – For quick setup and alignment to the jobsite. Superior battery life – Up to 130 hours with eight alkaline batteries. Up to 100 hours with two NiMH rechargeable packs. Clear axis labeling – The axes are labeled on the outer housing and inside the windows. Full-function RF-LR remote control – with the same controls as the laser unit. (Rugby 410/420 DG only)

The Rugby grade lasers are built for durability. Tested to rigid ISO standards for drop, transportation and seal, the Rugby grade lasers are without equals in the grade laser market. The rock-solid, cast aluminum base and high-impact composite housing results in a very rugged and robust laser unit. The leveling mechanism is built to tight tolerances with precision parts to ensure consistent performance.

The simple, intuitive keypad, with only five buttons is user friendly and makes operation easy for any user. The large, clear LCD display screen is easy to read and understand.

Rugby 320 SG & 410/420 DG Customer name
When the Rugby is first turned on it will display the Leica start-up screen. If a Customer Name has been entered in the computer’s memory, it will show also the customer name after a few seconds. Leica Start-up Screen Customer Name Screen

Rugby 320 SG & 410/420 DG Easy grade entry
Use Direct Grade Entry for small grade changes. Simply press the Grade button, then an Up or Down arrow button to change grade. Use Grade Entry by Digit for large amounts of grade by changing each individual digit to the desired amount. Press the Grade button, then the Star button to enter this mode. Zero Grade by pressing the Up and Down arrow buttons at the same time while in grade entry mode. Grade Swapping is done easily by changing the sign in grade entry by digit mode. Press the Up and Down arrow buttons at the same time to zero the counter. Change the sign to swap grade

Grade Matching – In direct grade entry mode the movement of the leveling mechanism moves at the same speed as the grade counters, allowing the user to enter grade and match an existing slope using the Rod-Eye receiver.

On-screen menus allow the user to easily access and change the many features offered with the Rugby grade laser. The first setup window allows changes to head speed, HI function, automatic/manual function, wind settings and beam masking. Head speed can be set to rotate at 5, 10, 15, or 20 rps as required by distance or type of receiver. H.I. Alert prevents elevation errors as a result of movement of the tripod. Wind sensitivity can be set for calm, normal or windy conditions.

Beam masking electronically shutters the beam from one to three quadrants diagonally or in line with the Rugby’s axes.

Automatic, Manual and Manual with Grade can be selected in the first setup screen. The Rugby will always turn on in Automatic mode regardless of the mode when switched off. Manual mode with grade allows the user to view the grade input in the laser. If grade is changed, the Rugby will level to the new grade, then return to manual mode. Manual Mode Manual Mode with Grade

Rugby 320 SG & 410/420 DG Batteries
Superior power management provides up to 100 hours of operation with two rechargeable NiMH packs. Up to 130 hours using eight alkaline D-cell batteries. Unique, dual battery compartment for one or two NiMH batteries, four or eight alkaline. The Rugby can also be run from the charging unit or 12 volt power.

Rugby 320 SG & 410/420 DG Beam masking options
Beam masking can be selected to mask at a diagonal or in line with the axes of the laser. Beam masking is not normally saved when the unit is turned off. If desired the unit will save the beam masking for repeated setups. Up to three quadrants can be masked at one time.

Rugby 320 SG & 410/420 DG H.I. Alert option
The H.I. (elevation alert) function is normally off at power up. If desired this function can be changed to automatically turn on every time with the laser. For critical setups and applications the H.I. function can be turned on or off in the first setup screen. When active the letters “HI” appear on the main operating screen. Negative grade capability is normally enabled to allow the user to enter negative grade. When enabled, the user can enter up to 5.000% of negative grade. To prevent setup confusion for some users, negative grade can be disabled. When disabled, any attempt to enter grade less than zero will cause the negative grade icon to appear. Percent of grade is normally shown to the thousandth of a percent. If desired percent of grade can be shown to a hundredth of a percent. By pressing a special sequence of buttons a hidden service screen can be accessed and a customer’s name entered into the computers memory. Also permanently stored in this screen is the unit’s serial number and date of manufacture to deter theft and make identification of the unit always possible. An optional Sighting Scope can be attached to the unit magnetically. Precision machined alignment holes ensure that the scope can be attached to the unit with a repeatable accuracy of ± 0.2°. The scope can be mounted in all four directions.

Rugby 410/420 DG RF-LR Remote Control option
An optional RF-LR Remote Control works with the Rugby 410/420 DG. It is a full-function RF (radio frequency) unit that operates to 225 meters. A additional sleep function button puts the Rugby into stand-by mode for up to 16 hours. Rugby Sleep Mode
