Cities, towns, and neighborhoods are often laid out on a grid. This makes it easier to map and find locations. A coordinate grid is formed by horizontal and vertical lines and is used to locate points. Each point on a coordinate grid can be located by using an ordered pair of numbers, such as (4, 6). The starting point is (0, 0). The first number tells how far to move horizontally from (0, 0). The second number tells how far to move vertically. Vocabulary
