Besides this fact below criteria are important to discharge WTG’s. -Suitable port / Suitable berthing area -Availability of temporary storage area at the port -Available equipment (Crane’s, reach stackers, fork lifts) in the port which can be used for handling of WTG’s -Clearance of cargo having arrived in the port -Potential hazards in the port

Each WTG normally consists of 8-10 heavy / over dimensional loads. - Height / width / weight / turning restrictions such as tunnels, bridges, cities, mountains etc. - Trucks / trailers available to execute the project - Actual condition of the road - Geography and time of the road will be travelled - Availability of police escorts / permit procedures / curfews - Procedures for road modifications - Alternatives to road transport Infrastructure for transport – Delivery to site

Further there might be other obstacles at the site which require special attention. - Planning the pad locations on site is vital to avoid any constraints with protected wild life, environmental heritage sites, weather, aviation requirements and construction consents - Site roads must be constructed to accommodate trucks/cranes using the roads - Hardstands can vary in size. Smaller which requires less civil works but demands JIT delivery of more WTG components - Rate of delivery in connection with the construction method on site - Storage of components at site - Additional equipment needed on more difficult sites - Infrastructure for the many people attending the site - Consequences if planning / preparations fail Infrastructure for transport – Site conditions

9 Page 9 March 2011 © Siemens AG All rights reserved. Siemens Wind Power Asia/Pacific Grid connection – Availability of a good grid connection. Getting the turbines installed and having them producing electricity is off course the primary target, but it’s the grid connection which determines how much energy can be released into the grid. - Site location is preferred to be close to an existing transmission line / sub station of right capacity - A stronger grid is preferred over weaker strength grids which is a stronger connection to the grid - Smart grid is the present trend. Since wind farms can be considered to a part of distributed energy efficient transmission network is required in planning - Dynamic rating of transmission line as per IEEE 738-2006 needs to be considered for efficient use of transmission lines in system planning - Good relations with government, wind farm developers and the wind turbine manufacturers will enhance the acceleration of the green projects
