REMEMBER All four styles are legitimate, depending on the decision / circumstances Leaders need to be clear about HOW the decision will be made

Have I had the opportunity to voice my opinions? Do I believe the group has heard me? Can I actively support the group's decision as the best one at this time, even if it is not my first choice? Consensus exists when each member of the group can answer “Yes” to these questions…

Controversy constructively dealt with Sufficient time to explore all information & opinions Effective leadership & communication skills Trust, honesty & openness in the group Reasons for opinions thoroughly explained & discussed Members willing to contribute their views
