CHIP sти - чoчα™

Chip? "Chip" is short for microchip, the incredibly complex yet tiny modules that store computer memory or provide logic circuitry for microprocessors. Perhaps the best known chips are the Pentiummicroprocessors from Intel. The PowerPC microprocessor, developed by Apple, Motorola, and IBM, is used in Macintosh personal computers and some workstations. AMD and Cyrix also make popular microprocessor chips. A chip is manufactured from a silicon wafer, which is first cut to size and then etched with circuits and electronic devices. The electronic devices use complementary metal-oxide semiconductor technology. The current stage of micro-integration is known as Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI). A chip is also sometimes called an IC or integrated circuit. sти - чoчα™ Next

BAR CODE

What Is Bar Code? A barcode is an optical machine-readable representation of data, which shows certain datas on on certain products. Originally, barcodes represented data in the widths (lines) and the spacings of parallel lines, and may be referred to as linear or 1D (1 dimensional) barcodes or symbologies Although 2D systems use symbols other than bars, they are generally referred to as barcodes as well. Barcodes can be read by optical scanners called barcode readers, or scanned from an image by special software. sти - чoчα™ Anatomy of a Barcode

DVD ROM The DVD-ROM specification supports disks with capacities of from 4.7GB to 17GB and access rates of 600 KBps to 1.3 MBps. One of the best features of DVD-ROM drives is that they are backward- compatible with CD-ROMs. This means that DVD- ROM players can play old CD-ROMs, CD-I disks, and video CDs, as well as new DVD-ROMs. Newer DVD players can also read CD-R disks. 11 FLOPPY DISK sти - чoчα™

FLOPPY DISK A floppy disk is a data storage medium that is composed of a disk of thin, flexible ("floppy") magnetic storage medium encased in a square or rectangular plastic shell. PART OF FLOPPY DISK

LASER PRINTER sти – чoчα™

LASER PRINTER A laser printer is a common type of computer printer that rapidly produces high quality text and graphics on plain paper. As with digital photocopiers and multifunction printers(MFPs), laser printers employ a xerographic printing process but differ from analog photocopiers in that the image is produced by the direct scanning of a laser beam across the printer's photoreceptor.

Hard Disk A hard disk drive (often shortened as hard disk,[ hard drive, or HDD) is a non-volatile storage device that stores digitally encoded data on rapidly rotating platters with magnetic surfaces. Strictly speaking, "drive" refers to the motorized mechanical aspect that is distinct from its medium, such as a tape drive and its tape, or a floppy disk drive and its floppy disk. Early HDDs had removable media; however, an HDD today is typically a sealed unit (except for a filtered vent hole to equalize air pressure) with fixed media How hard Disk work?

ZIP DISK A zip disk is a computer hardware device that stores data. A zip disk drive is somewhat like floppy disk drive, only that the size of disks inserted into the devices are different. Where a normal floppy disk can hold about 1.44 megabytes of data, a zip disk can hold around 100 megabytes of data. This means that a zip disk can hold a lot more data which is useful in today's computer market where software applications and files are becoming bigger. Files such as mp3 music files usually need to saved on 2 or more floppy disks whereas a zip disks can hold numerous mp3 files.

PIN PAD

PINpad is an electronic device used in a debit or smart card- based transaction to input and encrypt the cardholder's PIN. PINpads are normally used with integrated point of sale devices in which the Electronic Cash Register (ECR) machine is responsible for taking the sale amount and initiating/handling the transaction. The PINpad is required so that the customer card can be accessed (in the case of chip cards and the PIN can be securely entered and encrypted before it is sent upstream to the transaction manager of the switch or the bank. In some cases, with chip cards, the PIN is only transferred from the PINpad to the chip (within the PINpad itself) and it is verified by the chip card. In this case the PIN does not need to be sent to the bank or card scheme for verification

CD-ROM CD-Rom is a pre-pressed compact disc that contains data accessible to, but not writable by, a computer for data storage and music playbackCD-ROMs are popularly used to distribute computer software, including games and multimedia applications, though any data can be stored (up to the capacity limit of a disc). Some CDs hold both computer data and audio with the latter capable of being played on a CD player, while data (such as software or digital video) is only usable on a computer

Graph plotter A graphics printer that draws images with ink pens. It actually draws point-to-point lines directly from vector graphics files. The plotter was the first computer output device that could print graphics as well as accommodate full-size engineering and architectural drawings. Using different colored pens, it was also able to print in color long before inkjet printers became an alternative.

The Memory Stick digital data storage is designed to become a standard storage and transfer media. It is smaller than a stick of chewing gum, yet the 8MB Memory Stick has a minimum of five times the storage capacity of a standard 3.5 inch floppy disk. It is available in 4MB, 8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, and 128MB storage sizes and as a kit with a PC card adapter. Due to its compact design, it is best suited for use in small digital electronics products

Magnetic tape is a medium for magnetic recording generally consisting of a thin magnetizable coating on a long and narrow strip of plastic. Nearly all recording tape is of this type, whether used for recording audio or video or for computer data storage. It was originally developed in Germany, based on the concept of magnetic wire recording. Devices that record and play back audio and video using magnetic tape are generally called tape recorders and video tape recorders respectively. A device that stores computer data on magnetic tape can be called a tape drive, a tape unit, or a streamer.
