Ibiza is located West of Span, in the Balearic Sea.

The population of Ibiza was roughly 124,000 in 2008. There are 64,000 women and 60,000 men. That mean there are 8% more women in Ibiza than men.

In 654 B.C., Ibiza Town was founded by the Carthaginians. It was one of the earliest towns in Europe. A grave was found that dates back to 1600 B.C. Cave paintings were found from 800 B.C. Bronze axes and discs that are from 700 B.C. were also discovered.

Ibiza has many holidays, or ‘fiestas’. Some of the celebration include…. New Years Day in January Mayday in May The start of the summer is celebrated in June with fireworks and bonfires Carmen, which is when a procession of ships in Ibiza Town Harbor, is in August. Ibiza is sometimes called the ‘Island of Light’. That is because of the outstanding clarity of the air. It even attracts artists to the island.

The early Phoenicians believed that since Ibiza has no living things that can harm humans, that it is a magic isle blessed by the Gods. The soil is on Ibiza is red, rich, and non-volcanic. This only provokes their beliefs. To this day, people still wear amulets that contain the soil to ‘protect the wearer from harm

It is important to Spain because Ibiza Town was one of the first cities in Europe. GOOD JOB, IBIZA!

Ibiza has become a very well known tourist destination. The awing beaches, sunshine, and greenery attract people from all over.
