THE YOUNGSTERS IN THE REGION PACA 575.442 youngsters (15-24 years old) live in Paca « Provence Alpes Cote D’Azur » They represent 12.2% of the total population of the region In july 2006 more than 23.000 younsters under 25 were unemployed (youngsters with a lower scholar background)

Considerations It’s important to underline the improvements registered in the region, showed by the increased periods of compulsory education: in 1982 the percentage of the students of 15-19 years old was 83% (now 89%), same trend for the youngsters of 20-24 years old, 37% in 1982, 43% in the last ten years. Anyway: In the region PACA 15% of youngsters in a NEET’S condition (not in education, employment or training), 11% in France.

Factors to consider in our analysis: Four main reasons influenced the social conditions of youngsters in the region: 1.Family and social class origins or social standing (second or third immigrant’s generation, rural areas, etc) 2.Scholar level 3.Gender: in the region, 91% of males (25-29 years old) are employed, whereas the females of the same age, 83%. 4. Low willingness to move over (mobility)
