 Noise Pollution is any unwanted sound that is excessively loud or continuous e.g. buses, trains, trucks, cars and machines. Damage to health caused by: Hearing loss Fatigue Stress Irritability

 Air pollution occurs when gases are released in large quantities into the atmosphere e.g. car exhaust, household chemicals & carbons, manufacturing industries & burning of waste in dumps/incinerators etc. The negative health effects are: Increased risk of lung and skin cancer Acceleration of the development of asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema Irritation of pre-existing respiratory illnesses such as asthma Increased number of colds and upper respiratory infections Irritation of the eyes contributing to infections such as conjunctivitis

 Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies in lakes, rivers, oceans, acquifiers and groundwater with pollutants either directly or indirectly e.g. litter on beaches, storm water in drains & industrial discharge (oil dumping in ocean) Damage to health causing: Eye, ear and throat infections Vomiting Diarrhoea Skin or blood infections

 Visual Pollution is usually the most common for of pollution that you see every day. It is formed form humans and includes littering and other forms of debris Health implications are: Waterways and air become contaminated causing many health concerns

 Ways of reducing noise, air, water and visual pollution is to recycle.  Recyling is the process of reusing waste material and it can be used for paper, bottles, aluminium, organic wastes (composting) and some plastics

 Composting bins reduce waste and can be used in the garden  Use recycle bins  Reuse plastic bags  Buy goods that have recyclable materials in it  Try to avoid disposable products e.g. use glass instead of a plastic cup  Take your own bags when you go shopping
