Motivation 1.8 billion people used unsafe water in 2010. More than 3.4 million people die each year from water, sanitation, and hygiene-related causes. Nearly all deaths, 99 percent, occur in the developing world.

AguaClara… Develops sustainable drinking water treatment plants for communities that do not have access to safe drinking water. Invents technologies with potential to improve the quality of life for millions Creates an international collaborative network of organizations Creates a problem based learning environment for Cornell students What can we do to treat the dirty water that we are providing to rural communities?

Linking University and Social Enterprise Agua Para el Pueblo: (Water for People), a NGO working in Honduras who manages the construction and technical support for AguaClara plants LLC: AguaClara LLC is a social enterprise that designs and deploys sustainable community owned drinking water treatment technologies

Accomplishments Since 2005… Completed 9 water treatment plants in Honduras serving over 36,000 people. Two more under construction in Jesus de Otoro and Moroceli, Honduras Two plants nearing completion in India.
