3 Facts about money Money is used to pay for various goods and services. Money usually takes the form of coins, banknotes, and bank balances. Many countries have their own currency, while some use a shared currency. The currency most traded around the world is the United States dollar. Money isn’t made out of paper, it’s actually made out of linen. Next

5 The One Dollar Bill The US one dollar bill is paper money worth one hundred US cents. The front of the one dollar bill shows a picture of George Washington, the first president of the United States of America. The back of the one dollar bill shows the word “one” flanked by two circles. One dollar is written $1.00 Main Menu

9 The Quarter The quarter is a US coin worth twenty five cents or $0.25 Four quarters make one dollar. The front of the coin features the profile of George Washington, the first president of the United States. 10 The Dime The dime is a US coin worth ten cents or $0.10 On the front of a dime you will find a picture of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32 nd president of the United States. On the back you will find a picture of a torch representing Liberty. A dime is the same as ten pennies. Ten dimes is one dollar. Main Menu

11 The Nickel The nickel is a US coin worth five cents or $0.05 On the front of a nickel you will find a picture of Thomas Jefferson. On the back of a nickel you will find a picture of Jefferson’s house called Monticello. A nickel is the same as five pennies. 20 nickels equals one dollar. Main Menu
