16. Organic Cotton Organic cotton is the purest form of cotton, grown without toxins, synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or GMO’s (genetically modified organisms). Organic cotton farmers have developed creative ways to grow cotton without these chemicals. Naturepedic uses only U.S. grown and certified organic cotton as filling for its mattresses and buys directly from USDA certified sources. This ensures purity, organic reliability and support for U.S. farmers. Certified organic cotton means the following: NO synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, GMOs, carcinogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic chemicals, endocrine disruptors, non-biodegradable detergents, degreasers, surfactants, chlorine bleach, plastisols, or other synthetic chemicals.

17. Organic Wool Wool wicks away moisture, provides natural fire protection, and offers temperature regulation, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Naturepedic uses only U.S. sourced GOTS certified organic wool. This ensures healthy, well treated sheep and the elimination of harmful chemicals in the processing of the wool.

18. Organic Latex After harvesting from the rubber tree, the latex sap is cured into a comfortable luxurious foam using a high quality dunlop process. Made in Sri Lanka. Unlike synthetic and even all-natural blends, our latex sap is certified organic, ensuring purity, fair labor practices and support for healthy farming to protect our latex forests. It is also made at the point of harvest, avoiding the use of fillers, stabilizers and other additives (i.e. ammonium). The finished foam is certified to the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) and approved for use in our GOTS certified organic mattresses. Why don’t we use talalay latex? There is no certified organic talalay available. All available talalay (including “all natural” blends) contains ammonium and other fillers/stabilizers. Many consumers actually prefer the feel of high quality dunlop to talalay.

19. Support Coils Our coils are individually wrapped in certified organic cotton fabric and hand assembled for unmatched quality. This method ensures isolation of movement and pressure point relieving comfort that contours to your body. Comfort Coils Made from softer more flexible steel, our organic encased micro-coils are available to replace the latex comfort layer in our beds with a latex-free option for those with allergy concerns. 20. Organic Coir Made from organic coconut husks pressed together into flat sheets and bonded with organic latex. Made in Sri Lanka. Our organic coir sheets add a flat supportive base for our organic encased coils. This allows the coils to operate as efficiently as possible. Coir is GOTS certified.

21. PLA Fiber Also known as polylactide, PLA is similar to polyester, except that it is 100% plant derived. The sugar chains from the plants are extracted and fermented, then extruded into a fiber through a unique patented process. Available as a wool-free alternative for those with allergy concerns, our PLA fiber has been tested for chemical emissions and does not off-gas harmful chemicals. PLA is used in food packaging materials and a number of biomedical applications such as sutures, stents, and drug delivery devices. PLA is a non-toxic and sustainable alternative to petroleum-derived products with unique comfort attributes.

22. Engineered Comfort At Naturepedic, we try to marry the best materials with their most appropriate applications. For example, encased coils offer excellent support and comfort, while maintaining breathability and low flammability. They also add “life” to the bed while helping to eliminate motion transfer. Latex, on the other hand, makes a great comfort layer, helping to create the ideal sleep surface. Combining these two materials produces a magical transcendent duo of support and comfort that is ultimately the Naturepedic advantage! By combining organic latex with organic encased coils, we achieve a level of engineered support and comfort not achievable without both materials.
