4 IBM Flex System x240 M5 Compute Node
Flex System x240 M5 Optimized for Performance Provides clients ability to run more workloads on a single system Up to 2x Max Memory Possible 1.5TB max on Flex and Rack Servers Increased speed to 2133 MHz Save 45% power (TruDDR4 Memory vs. DDR3) 71% more VMs per server compared to previous gen. 1 Enablement of 20%-70% Faster Workload Solutions Up to 131% Increase in Performance2 over previous generation with New Intel Xeon E v3 series processors enable up to 50% more cores (up to 36 total per server) 25% Savings on Industry leading Networking Solutions3 Here are several key performance advantages of the x3650 M5 and x3550 M5: Nearly double the number of Virtual Machines per server over the previous generation, due to an increase in memory capacity from 768 GB to 1.5TB. Speed has increased up to 2133 MHz. And TruDDR4 gives a power savings of 50%. The new servers have 50% more cores & cache, and up to 131% performance increase for java workloads. Additionally, the x3650 M5 servers support 2 GPUs for additional available processing. Additionally, both servers support end-to-end RAID – both devices and infrastructure – supported via a dedicated RAID slot, which produces up to 8X performance improvement over 6Gbps. And the x3650 M5 supports up to 4 RAID adapters for enhanced data protection and performance. This, combined with the end-to-end 12Gbps storage system, can boost storage performance by utilizing more PCI lanes and dividing the disks into 4 high performance RAID adapters. Finally, the new servers support 10Gb and 40Gb networking solutions. 6 X6 introduces maximum flexibility—and a new level of performance
Flex System X6 System x3850 X6 System x3950 X6 Shift business services into high gear: Actionable information, delivered faster A system nearly 300 percent faster—which means more work in less time Ensure flexibility to grow as your business does: Scale seamlessly as your analytic workloads increase Avoid the cost and disruption of rip-and- replace Realize maximum flexibility: Run different workloads simultaneously Create a business-aware, ready-for-innovation architecture: Maximize application uptime Reduce support costs with easier maintenance

7 Industry’s first 8-socket Intel Xeon-based blade system
The Flex System X6 Compute Node Portfolio Flexibility and scalability that’s fast, agile, resilient Industry’s first 8-socket Intel Xeon-based blade system x880 X6 Ideal for workloads such as advanced analytics and databases that demand the highest levels of performance Scale to 8 sockets Maximum 12TB memory* x480 X6 Ideal for workloads such as large virtual machines, analytics and databases requiring more cores and more memory per system/VM Scale to 4 sockets Maximum 6TB memory x280 X6 Ideal for workloads such as large virtual machines requiring more memory per VM Scale to 2 sockets Maximum 3TB memory * 64GB DIMM available on 8 socket x880 in 4Q14. Contact IBM rep for interoperability help with specific configurations.

8 Flex system X6 features FlexNode partitioning to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions easily
x880 X6 Repurpose an x880 8-socket system into four 2-socket systems or two 4-socket systems With eX5, IBM introduced the concept of FlexNode–the ability to partition the server. x3950 X6 will continue to support this capability, but in a more enhanced way. Unlike eX5, where a MAX5 memory drawer was required for FlexNode, the x3950 X6 supports FlexNode natively–without any requirement for additional hardware. Clients can partition the x3950 X6 to operate as either a single 8-socket server or two 4-socket servers. This allows clients to create a pair of 4-ways within the chassis that can be clustered. So as clients scale-out x3950 X6 with FlexNode, clients can deploy a cluster of 4-socket servers with lower capital and operational through the cost savings of the 8-way chassis verses two 4-way chassis, and fewer physical assets to manage. Once again, this allows clients to utilize their much more economically, without compromising on performance or capacity. • FlexNode configures easily between scale-up workloads & clustered applications • Scales to meet growth needs • Delivers fit-for-purpose solutions with modular blade design x480 X6 Repurpose an x480 4-socket system into two 2-socket system
