2.   To give students the skills required to be college ready  A consequence of AVID is that students will meet college eligibility requirements  In 11 th and 12 th grades, AVID course time will spend time doing college searches, personal statement writing, college applications, financial aid applications, and scholarship applications. 5.   Structure:  Block Schedule  Students take 8 classes per year vs. 6 classes within a traditional schedule  In 9 th grade – English 9 is paired with Academic Literacy, so students have English content all year long  Algebra 1 is paired with Algebra Support so that students have Algebra all year long  AVID will take 2 elective spaces each year Kennedy High

6.  Block Schedule  September – January 1.English 2.PE 3.Science 4.AVID  February – June 1.English 2.Computers/Health 3.Geometry 4.AVID This is a sample schedule – students will get schedules tonight and will have an opportunity to make adjustments before getting the final schedule on Thursday at Maze Day.
