Copyright ©2004 by Thomson Delmar Learning. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 11 Wrist Taping (cont.)  Apply an anchor strip through the palm area, pinching it at the thumb to avoid pressure at the thumb joint.  Apply another set of compression strips covering the ends of the anchor strip.

Copyright ©2004 by Thomson Delmar Learning. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 12 Elbow Taping  This procedure helps prevent hyperextension of the elbow.  Shave skin if necessary, then apply underwrap and spray adherent. Adherent should be applied 2 inches above and below the wrap.

Copyright ©2004 by Thomson Delmar Learning. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 13 Elbow Taping (cont.)  With the arm partially flexed, apply an anchor strip above and below the underwrap.

Copyright ©2004 by Thomson Delmar Learning. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 14 Elbow Taping (cont.)  Cut down the middle of Elastikon or similar tape to create two anchor strips. Wrap them around the arm over the initial anchor.

Copyright ©2004 by Thomson Delmar Learning. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 15 Elbow Taping (cont.)  Repeat the cutting and anchoring of the Elastikon for the bottom of the tape.  Apply cover strips at the top and bottom elastic anchor strips.
