Remember - ask the following questions: What materials are used to construct the musical instrument? How is the sound produced? What is the comparable voice range of the instrument?

Question 1 What materials are used to construct the musical instrument? Answer: Anything Goes!

Question 2 How is the sound produced?
Answer - Sound is produced by striking, pushing, pulling, hitting, throwing, punching, sliding, shaking, rattling, etc.

Question 3 What is the comparable voice range of the instrument?
Answer: Again, Anything Goes!

Percussion Instrument Classification: 2 Groups
1. Idiophones Instruments constructed of a solid mass 9Wood or metal). 2. Membranophones Instruments constructed with a plastic or animal skin head.

Pitched vs. Unpitched Pitched instruments Unpitched Instruments
instruments that produce a definite pitch (frequency). In other words, a note that is singable! Unpitched Instruments instruments that produce too many unrecognizable overtones. In other words, a note that is not singable.
