7 P&E Group Report Topics
Selected Group Highlights New Group Organization & Key Initiatives 2014 P&E Forum Summary 2015 P&E Forum Planning Pervasive Challenges P&E Group Report – August, 2014

8 2014 P&E Forum Summary Forum Held Last Week, July In Cleveland, Ohio 50th Joint Propulsion Conference 12th International Energy Conversion Engineering Conference IEEE/INCOSE EnergyTech (Likely 1-Time Only) Total Attendance: ~1,200 KI Of ~850 Versus 978 originally Budgeted & 750 ETC Many Positive Comments From Attendees Clear Positive Impact Of Executive Steering Committee And Forum 360 Track Keynote Discussions Ranged From “Compact Fusion” To Additive Manufacturing Awards Luncheon Format Solved Prior Issues Collecting More Feedback; Initial Comments Herein P&E Group Report – August, 2014

9 2014 P&E Forum Contents 7 Keynotes & Special Sessions

10 P&E Forum (& Predecessors) KI History
For 2008 & Prior, the KI was budgeted as 1,000 when JPC was on the east coast and 1,100 when on the west coast Originally Budgeted “ETC” P&E Group Report – August, 2014

11 2014 P&E Forum – Assorted Complaints
2014 And 2015 Forums At Exact Same Time As IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting; Avoid In 2016 Forum 360 Sessions Were Self-Competitive – Two Simultaneous Panels Throughout The Conference Poster Sessions Received With Mixed Results, “Can’t Have Posters Be 2nd Class” Registration Fee For Retires Went From $50 In 2013 To $350 In 2014 With No Communication No Provided Lunch On Monday; No Food Available At Venue And No Off-Site Options Identified Underwhelming Acknowledgement Of JPC 50th Anniversary “What Happened To IECEC?” (Next Chart) P&E Group Report – August, 2014

12 A Few Broader Considerations From P&E 2014
Will We Maintain Individual Conferences As Forums Evolve? In Development Of New Event Model, Concept Was To Maintain Individual Conferences Within Forum Umbrella, Promote “Villages,” Etc. At P&E 204, Sense Of Constituent JPC & IECEC Was Lost, With Significant Negative Feedback From Energy Community (IECEC Attendees) TCs Are Moving Out On Virtual Committee Meetings Largest P&E TC, Liquid Propulsion, Affirmed Format Of Face-To- Face Meeting In July And Virtual Meeting In January; January Meeting Is NOT At SciTech Due To IT Infrastructure Challenge We Are Continuing To Erode Rather Than Affirm The “Joint” ASME/SAE/ASEE) Part Of The Legacy JPC P&E Group Report – August, 2014

13 P&E Forum 2015 Planning Underway
P&E Forum 2015: July, Hilton Orlando, Orlando, FL Forum Leadership General Chair: Charlie Precourt, ATK Technical Chair: Jerry Welch, NASA GRC Integration Chair: Christine Pastor-Barsi, Sierra Lobo Executive Steering Committee Meet On July 28 To Discuss Themes; Expect To Finalize Shortly Anticipate Some Changes In ESC Membership Technical Planning Underway Technical Program Committee Staffed, Energized & Underway; Held 1st Meeting On July 30 Inputs For Call For Papers Due August 13 P&E Group Report – August, 2014

14 Pervasive Challenges Maintaining Volunteer Enthusiasm & Engagement
Thriving As Home Organization Sponsorship Trends To 1 Meeting/Year Tactical Steps To Grow In Energy Optimizing Resource Investment; Improved Efficiency Embracing Lessons Learned Many Great Ideas & Possible Improvements… But Limited Bandwidth P&E Group Report – August, 2014
