Kidsave Art Studio DC Summer Miracles Weekend Event

Event Overview Kids, their host families, and visiting families participate in an interactive and fun art project. All Participants are provided with a canvas or paper to paint and create their own masterpiece. After creating their own individual project, the Kids can help create a group Masterpiece that can then be put in a future Kidsave auction event.

Venue Requirements A well ventilated, well-lit space with enough table space or counter space for all participants to paint. Water/sinks for wash up.

Requirements of Host Families Wear clothing that can get “painted” or wear smocks or aprons to protect clothing.

Equipment Requirements (Borrowed or donated) Aprons/smocks (optional) Old newspapers or drop cloths Easels (optional) Tables/Counters

Supplies required (Donated or purchased) Pre-stretched canvas, boards, art paper Oil, watercolor, tempera paint, markers, crayons, chalks Tissue paper, construction paper, etc. White glue Scissors Paint Brushes Old jars for brushes/water Sponges/paper towels for clean up

Volunteer Tasks Shop for supplies Secure/rent equipment Set up art studio Assist “Artists” Provide refreshments to Clean up

Event Blueprint Families arrive & settle. Introduction of event Kids select canvases or paper and preferred medium Ready, set, CREATE like crazy Display/let dry in Kidsave Gallery Group project: A larger canvas or mini tiles to create a “quilt” or larger artwork for a future Kidsave auction Wash up Refreshments for tired artists 10 minutes 5 minutes 30 minutes 10 minutes 15 minutes
