What is Animation? IIIIllusion of movement using one frame at a time. OOOOriginally done on chalkboards. NNNNow done on paper or computer.

History of Traditional Animation TTTTwo of the traditional masters of animation were Tex Avery and Chuck Jones. TTTTex Avery – Unique style of exaggerating animation. He worked for Warner Bros., MGM, and Lantz. CCCChuck Jones – Best known for using characterization. Worked for Warner Bros. and MGM.

History of Computer Animation SSSStarted in the late 1970’s, but became well known in the mid-1980’s. NNNNew computers came out that gave the ability to do polygon animation, which increase the quality of animations. IIIIn 1986, Pixar was founded by John Lassenter and Steve Jobs. In 1995, the first fully computer animated feature film, Toy Story, was released.

Animating with Alice MMMMade for students that are interested in video games and animation. TTTThis program is named after a character in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass. AAAAllows you to create fictional worlds. TTTThis program is mainly used with a mouse, not the keyboard to program.

Animation with Maya DDDDeveloped by Alias Software. IIIIs the gold standard in the animation industry. IIIIs very expensive. IIIIs very difficult to learn. It can take months or years to learn.

My Product FFFFor my senior product, I created a fictitious world using Alice. MMMMy world includes two parts. PPPPart one is a tortoise getting a cookie. PPPPart 2 features penguins skating on ice and also includes several interactive features like an igloo with a secret scene.

Conclusion AAAAnimations has been done for over a hundred years. PPPPrograms like Alice and Maya have helped students to learn computer animation. IIIIt is my hope that this project will put me one step closer to a future career in animation.
