Entry- Level Jobs Requirements vary from state to state May need training in CPR, fire safety, abuse detection and prevention, etc Maryland requires 90 hours of training in order to work in a child care center, or have an in home day care service Maryland requires teacher aides to have 2 years of college.

Professional – Level Jobs Four year degree is needed to be a teacher or director of a child care center

Personal Qualities Needed Able and willing to be a good role model Able to demonstrate love Healthy sense of humor Knowledge of child development Good health Physical stamina Emotional stability Flexible Creatively Resourceful Organized Patience Positive attitude Good money manager – as salaries are often low and turn over is high

Career Plan Take Child Development courses at JMB Take Early Childhood courses at CTE Wor –Wic offers the 90 hour training Volunteer to work with children 4-year degree in Early Childhood and Early Education is a very good idea and required for some jobs.
