EVENTBEAR HUGS DAY DATE22 nd April, 2014 TOPICEndangered Animals GRADEKG WRITE UP A child’s world is full of wonder and enchantment. The imagination has no bounds. When a child sees an animal, he would immediately associate it with fun and, perhaps, a well-known animated character. Little do children know that noble creatures like bears, who they associate with their teddies, are rapidly dwindling in numbers as the years go by. In the Kindergarten Starters, the KG2 Department planned an innovative awareness programme to spread the message of protecting endangered species of bears. Children love fun and play, so these elements were made use of to create awareness. All the Kindergarteners were asked to bring their favorite teddy bear to school for the day. They had complete responsibility of taking care of their bears. They were also educated about how a few bears in our world are not being taken care of. They are being hunted and killed because of our carelessness, students were then able to express their emotion and speak about what they will do from their side to protect these bears. A very important was stressed: the fact that bears are wild animals, and while we cannot show our love for them directly through hugs, we can do other things to express our love and affection. Bear Hug Day is all about teaching moral values to our little ones and making them accountable for taking care of their future.
