Whole territory of Slovakia belongs to the extensive Alpine-Himalayan mountain system All mountains in this region are part of Carpathian mountains In the region of Prešov are located areas of five national parks National park of High Tatras TANAP National park of Low Tatras NAPANT Poloniny Pieniny

It is the oldest national park in Slovakia It consist of the highest mountain ranges of the Carpathian mountains This park is visited by nearly five million visitors every year There is a huge network of hiking trails with total length about 600 km Together with the Polish Tatras it is an UNESCO Reservation

It is situated on the territory of Banská Bystrica, Žilina, Prešov The Park was founded in 1978 An area of 1 830 km² The highest peak is Ďumbier 2 043 m. n. m. There are four Slovak river : Váh, Hron, Hnilec a Hornád
