Red
Red,
The color of fire,
Bright,
Cherry flavor,
Apples,
A watermelon’s center,
A sunset
Red.

4. In your ups and downs all day,

Sisters
Sisters they love you,
In your ups and downs all day,
In your heart they are.

I am from the scar on my knee,

I am from stuffed animals,
And from clothes stuffed in my closet.
I am from the days,
I would laugh and play,
Without a care in the world.

I hear the owls hoot,

I curl up in my bed,

Life’s a roller coaster.
We learn to live with it,
The world still goes around,

My name is Maiya K. I am almost 10. My environment inspired me to write most of my poems. Different events also inspired me. Figurative language helped me because it helped my writing flow. It also helped me tell the stories I was trying to tell within my poems.
