4. Solitary Play This behavior involves a child playing alone. She has no interest in anyone else or what they are doing. The toys he/she plays with are different from those the other children are playing with. She is totally involved in a personal activity. (Infants)

6. On looker Behavior This behavior involves watching other children play. The child may talk to the other children who are playing but does not become actively involved. The onlooker wants to be close enough to interact with the children who are playing whereas the unoccupied child's interest keeps shifting to anything that interests him/her at the moment (Toddlers)

8. Parallel Play This type of play involves a child playing beside other children. There is no actual interaction, but the toys are similar. The child engaged in parallel play will play beside the other children rather than with them (2-3 years)

12. Cooperative Play This type of play involves organization. The child is a part of a group that has a specific purpose in mind such as making an art project or playing a game. There are usually leaders and followers in this type of play.

Include how play helps a child develop physically, emotionally, morally, intellectually and socially. You must use examples from what we have learned by using the articles that you have been given to provide proof why play is important for each type of development. You may do this by using quotes from the articles in class. Option Two Create a PowerPoint presentation that presents the same information. Each slide must have a visual that explains the information. Student must be prepared to explain how each picture relates to the information on the slide. A hard copy of and a electronic copy of the PowerPoint must be provided. References must also be made on the PowerPoint presentation. Worth two homework assignments! Must be typed! You do not need a reference page but you should reference the article and author in your essay.
