2. JETT employs specific safety practices and procedures to reduce the number of traffic accidents. Key practices and procedures include the following: 1.28 safety items are checked on daily basis by the company technical staff to avoid mechanical errors/defects 2.72 safety items are checked on weekly basis by the company technical staff to avoid mechanical errors/defects 3.All buses are equipped with a tracking system which is managed at the Operations Unit at the Company Headquarters 4.All spare parts used by our company are original & based on the international approved standards. 3. Bus speed limits are controlled by the company. The company has set bus speed limits to 90 km/hour for domestic routes and 100 km/hour for international routes – noting that studies show that the most bus accidents occur at speed levels greater than 100 km/hour. The company adopts a policy of having two drivers on board on international routes (such as Egypt and KSA) The company pays careful attention to one of the major causes of accidents which is the human factor. For this reason, the company qualifies competent drivers through the following: When recruiting new drivers, the company does not only rely on the official Traffic Department’s driver test, but also requires that drivers pass the company’s drive test which is designed according to strict criteria.

4. Work hours are usually limited to 8 hours/day, with actual driving time not exceeding 4 consecutive hours. Drivers are periodically and regularly examined by the Company’s in- house Medical Physician at the Company’s internal clinic which is located at the company’s main bus station. The Doctor’s examination focuses on common diseases and medical conditions particularly to drivers such as blood pressure, diabetes and eye-sight. In case any signs of such cases are detected, the drivers are given the right medication and are relieved from duty to ensure passenger safety..

5. We have evident statistics of cases recorded in 2011, including: 7 drivers with eye-sight problems were relieved from duty and repositioned to become in-house employees at the main station. 3 of which are still working for the company. 14 cases where drivers with high-blood pressure were replaced by fit drivers just prior to bus departure. 27 diabetic drivers with high-levels of blood sugar were replaced and had not been allowed to drive from at least a week until their blood sugar levels were back to normal 3 drivers who had not reported their heart problems were released from their duty.

8. In our view, these medical examinations and remedial measures taken by the company ensured prevention of accidents. The company’s policy is that drivers should not be older than 50 years of age. There are numerous measures and precautions undertaken by the company to ensure prevention of traffic accidents, as we believe that human resources are our most precious and valuable asset.
