2Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Today’s Topic Mastery – Igniting Passion

3Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Introduction Today we’ll talk about how to ignite passion, in ourselves, or in our clients and people we lead.

4Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Definition of Passion A strong emotion A strong enthusiasm or interest Something that produces a strong enthusiasm or interest in you

5Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Why do we want to ignite our passion? What we are taking about is the fiery energy of physical creation The inspirational energy for doing things It is a wonderful and powerful state to be motivated by the “fire in the belly” Most clients will say they feel unmotivated, don’t know what their passions are

6Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Discussion What does having passion in your life mean to you? What is your experience of what it is like to live with passion?

7Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Orange Chakra For those that appreciate the chakra model, passion is associated with the orange or sacral chakra Orange chakra is energy center for emotion, passion, outward movement, forward movement in life, involvement in life, drive, action, “fire in the belly”, gut feeling, enthusiasm Associated with Mars and the Sun

8Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Passion is our Default All things being equal and healthy, we are NATURALLY passionate Anything that balances the self and brings holistic health will help you connect with your passions Much initial work in coaching will often focus on clearing away things that are in the way – Limiting beliefs, unhealthy habits, worrying what others think – even if this is not expressly discussed So, in a way, passion is there, we just need to clear things out of the way…but we can also draw it out!

9Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Exercise Close your eyes and get comfortable Take some deep breaths in and out As you breathe, imagine that there is a powerful fire in your belly, just below your belly button. Every time you breathe in and out you are adding oxygen to the flames and they burn brighter and brighter Now that we’ve stoked our flames for a little while, we are going to consciously draw out our passion Open your eyes, look around the room in which you sit…What object or thing you are seeing are you most passionate about, whether the passion is strong or not? Describe what you are seeing to the rest of us using the most passion you can access

10Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Discussion Did you feel passionate about anything? Did other people describing things in a passionate way stimulate your passion?

11Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Our Most Powerful Emotion Our most powerful emotion is love in all of it’s colours So, when we are passionate about something, we are really talking about loving something When it comes to inspiration, what we are really talking about is connecting with what you love, what brings you joy, and that is about connecting with the real you

12Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 From Spark to Flame 1 In real life, we have to start where we are If we are similar to where most people are “at” we may not feel a particular passion for anything But if we are very conscious and discerning, we can tell what interests us the most…That is your place to start

13Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 From Spark to Flame 2 With clients, or ourselves, we can ask: What excites you the most? What were you interested in as a child? If you could solve one world problem, what would it be? If they are in a really tough place, ask them: What do you hate the least?!

14Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 From Spark to Flame 3 The next step is to follow the clues of your interests, best you can at this moment in life Example: You discover you are interested in piano But, you or your client say: I have no piano, and no money to get one. Challenge yourself or your client…OK, what CAN you do RIGHT NOW to connect with this interest? Listen to piano music, watch youtubes on learning piano, download a free pc keyboard piano program, find a free piano concert, etc. Pursuing an interest will lead to more passion, and a greater understanding of the nuances of where your passions actually lay

15Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Discussion Once we discover an interest, what other ideas do we have for “stoking the flames”?

16Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Values and Vision We’ve talked about values and vision before Values are what really matter to you Vision is what you see that others may not They are closely connected with where your passions lay Values and vision work can help you connect with your passion

17Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 In Love with Life Recall what it feels like to fall in love with someone When you are in love with someone, you focus on what is wonderful about them For some reason that makes us feel wonderful about ourselves as well The same can be said for becoming passionate about life We focus on what is wonderful about life Being in love always inspires us to be our best selves, whether we are in love with a person, or in love with life

18Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Final Discussion What can you take back to your life to “stoke your fire”?

19Copyright (c) Michele Caron, 2011 Next Session Next session: Tuesday, June 28 th This is our productivity/success call We will be talking about beyond time management…Attention management…Many concrete techniques for being truly productive Have a fantastic week!
