5
Twitter Feed SIGN UP FOR TWITTER!!! ccsasched (sign up now!!) Why?? It is the only method used for sending out certain information – like the weather/diamond updates! Because it is the quickest and fastest way for me to send out quick and sometimes time sensitive information Used for all matters that are worth tweeting: Event and meeting updates and important reminders! Movement of games in some cases CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
6
Pre-Season! Hopefully you’ve already sent in your npd’s (I will be compiling them shortly) The npd’s are only used to produce the initial schedule – NOT used to determine any rescheduling Here is how your schedule is produced (-note: showed the infamous template!!) CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
7
Package Schedule and team information Permits (bring with you to every game) and maps Scoresheets Stamps and Envelopes (for sending in scoresheets) Directory Additional instructions (will highlight some of them in the rest of the presentation) CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
8
Weather policy Some or all games may be postponed for a time slot or the whole day – communicated only by using TWITTER one hour before the game time. Attempting to play a game on a cancelled diamond will result in a double forfeit Rescheduling for weather related reasons is a mutual situation and may result in a tie CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
9
Weather policy (cont) Reasons: Ongoing rain Previous weather conditions has caused the field to be unplayable Other types of distressing weather (extreme heat alerts may be a cause) Permits are cancelled KEY IS TO PROTECT THE FIELD FROM DAMAGE AND PERMITS ARE ESSENTIALLY CANCELLED IN BAD WEATHER CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
10
Rescheduling Done through email including all teams involved. First round to determine new game time. Second round to confirm. HARD TO RESCHEDULE Teams tend to schedule other church events after the initial schedule is created (so npd’s are not used) Initiating team runs the risk of forfeit – opponent is under no obligation to try and accommodate the initiating team. Umpiring team does not need to cover the new game time – new umpires would need to be found CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
11
Game Day Create a checklist that should include Game equipment (home team responsible for various things such as bases, pylons, game ball) Ensure batting lineup is appropriate (example no more than 3 males per female and no more than 3 males in the batting lineup consecutively) Bring the permits in case of dispute Contact Jonathan Wong with any diamond issues. Ensure all important information is recorded on the scoresheet (especially loss/gain of points, reasons, home/away, etc.) – Note the scoresheet helper with package CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
12
Post Game Online submission of scores and umpire evaluation @ www.ccsasoftball.net (a future email with details on logging in and such will follow)www.ccsasoftball.net To be done by Monday 6pm following the game Umpires also need to submit scores to ensure receipt of umpiring points CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
13
Post Game Scoresheets must be received by the Monday after the following weekend (i.e. about 1 week to submit). If mailing, please mail by Wednesday to allow for postal processing. Scores/Scoresheets not received on time will be declared a tie. Ensure the address label and stamp are in the correct places. Ensure you retain a copy for any concerns or clarifications at the playoff meeting. CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
14
Playoffs Games played on the last weekend of the regular season need to have their scores submitted by noon Monday to be official (or else declared a tie). Scoresheets to be brought to the playoff meeting. The previous week’s scoresheets must be submitted by 5pm on Monday Preliminary standings go out soon after. Most concerns can be addressed by email. If concerns are not resolved, you would need to arrive an hour before the playoff meeting to discuss. CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
15
Playoffs BE ON TIME to the playoff meeting to ensure no penalties and retain your playoff position. (details of time and location confirmed later in the season) FAILURE TO ATTEND will result in loss of position. CCSA 101 - Gear Up! 2014 - ROFL
