“JSA” stands for the Junior State of America. Created in 1934, the Junior State of America is a place where high school students interested in the world around them — politics government, foreign affairs, the law, and education — can meet and interact with others that share this interest.

The purpose of JSA is to help high school students acquire leadership skill as well as meeting new people with common interest, while also practicing public speaking

Mega Con A larger convention where there are more people attending Are at hotels You have choice in what is debated Over night conventions where the chapter stays at the hotel Mini Con A smaller convention where there typically less people attend Are at the schools of the hosting chapter The docket is pre- prepared and debates are set Day events where the chapter goes and debates and then leaves

There will be weekly meetings where attendance is key in participation in those Mega Cons Each student will be granted 5 absences before they are kick out What you will be doing: Practicing public speaking Learning how to write bills Learning the structure of debating Learning “Roberts Rule of Order” After Learning these skill we will have debate blocks where we practice them

Fall Regional- At Boston University (NER) Fall State- At Boston Plaza Hotel, Downtown Boston (NER) Winter Congress – Double Tree Hotel, Washington D.C. (NER) Spring State- Sheraton Hotel, Connecticut (NER) Spring Regional- At Boston University (NER) Between events will be mini cons put on by other schools which are mandatory to attend.
