bizarre S – On Halloween night, we saw many bizarre costumes; there were so many strange looking people walking around the neighborhood. POS – adj. Definition – markedly unusual in appearance, style, or general character and often involving incongruous or unexpected elements; outrageously or whimsically strange; odd Synonyms – weird, unusual, odd

clad S - The were clad in a t-shirt and shorts even though it was cold outside because they thought it would warm up outside. POS – adj. Definition – clothed Synonyms – garbed

nemesis POS: noun Definition – an opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome. S – The football team had a great nemesis, and they would be played this Friday at the homecoming game. Synonyms: bane, adversary, curse, affliction, plague, rival

odious POS: adj. Definition – hateful, horrible S – The bully was odious to others in the class, and he made the other children cry. Synonyms: revolting, vile, awful, intolerable

maliciously S – The person maliciously painted the bench to see who many people’s clothes they could ruin when they sat down. POS – adv. Definition – full of, characterized by, or showing malice; malevolent; spiteful Synonyms – vindictively, cruelly

expounded S – The principal demanded that the students expound the truth about what happened in the bathroom and why there was so much water on the floor. POS - verb Definition – to state in detail Synonyms – talk about in great detail, express, explain

reigned S – As the students learned the new grammar concept, confusion reigned over the class. POS – verb Definition – to posses or exercise sovereign power or authority Synonyms – have power over; prevail, dominate
