How Should New Testament Christians Apply Old Testament Law? The Old Testament is not our testament “Unless an Old Testament law is somehow restated or reinforced in the New Testament, it is no longer directly binding on God’s people.” (Fee/Stuart, pp. 151-52) All of the Old Testament is still the Word of God for us even if not still the command of God to us

Benefits of The Law for Israel Protected them from disease “And the pig…is unclean to you” (Leviticus 11:7) Protected them from false religions “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk” (Deuteronomy 14:21) Promised blessings for obedience Give tithe so “that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands” (Deuteronomy 14:29)

SMALL TALK Deuteronomy 29:10-13 “You are standing today all of you before the Lord your God…so that you may enter into the sworn covenant of the Lord your God, which the Lord your God is making with you today, that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he promised you, and as he sworeto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.” Why would such a holy, awesome God choose sinners like us to be his people?
