Ingress Protection Ratings (IP) in Environmental Connectors
7
Extremely resistant to abrasive wear and corrosion Added nickel increases the strength without diminishing ductility, toughness and corrosion resistance. Ideal Choice for coupling nuts due to anti-galling properties Shell Material Selection Nickel-Aluminum-Bronze or “Marine-Bronze”
8
Not magnetic High chromium and nickel content for maximum corrosion resistance Fine mechanical properties Perfectly suited for connector shells, backshells, and protective covers used in extreme environmental applications Shell Material Selections Austenetic Grade, 300 Series, Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRES)
9
Ultem-2300 PEI—Extruded 30% Glass Reinforced Polyetherimide Amorphous, high-performance composite with exceptional Environmental and temperature resistance Unlimited Corrosion Resistance Consistent dielectric properties over a wide frequency range Hydrolysis resistant Highly resistant to acidic solutions Shell Material Selection
10
The Pinnacle of High-Performance Plating Materials: Nickel-PTFE
11
Sealing/Insert Materials Materials Selection for Extreme Environmental Applications Viton: Water and chemical resistant overmold and/or jacket material Fluorosilicone Rubber: O-ring, grommet and interfacial seal material best suited for env. applications LCP and/or Vitreous Glass: Rigid insulator and dielectric materials designed for extreme environmental and hermetic applications
12
Series 22 Geo-Marine 5000 PSI piston-sealed extreme environmental submersible Single-start, stub-Acme thread for quick- coupling of plug and receptacle reduces thread fouling and binding due to dirt, grit and other foreign matter. Castellated and knurled plug coupling ring provides easy mating and unmating, even with arctic gloves. Plug shell leading edge configuration assures key-keyway alignment and engagement prior to mating of the plug coupling ring threads.
13
Overmolded Cable Sealing and Packaging Capabilities Essentially unlimited configuration range, all with optimal sealing Straight, 90° and 45° angular specifications Existing tooling for many common molding adapters and connectors Viton® and other harsh environment materials
