Procedure for Signing of Applications for U of T Administered Grants Signature requirements are a function of how a grant will be paid (which institution will administer the funds, i.e. the University or an affiliated teaching hospital or research institute.) For U of T administration, submissions are to be accompanied by a submission on MRA, U of T’s internal research grant system.

Grant Application Administration University of Toronto Administration- research located on campus (exceptions include sponsors that require University submission or administration – CRC, NSERC, SSHRC, Ontario Ministry of Health & Long Term Care, Burroughs Wellcome programs, etc). Hospital Administration - research located in a hospital.

Procedure for Signing of Applications for U of T Administered Grants University requirements include provision of a completed MRA online application (https://ppm- wd.utoronto.ca/irj/portal)https://ppm- wd.utoronto.ca/irj/portal This online form, once submitted, will automatically deliver the application to your University Department Chair and then to the next appropriate signatory The Associate Dean Research or Vice Dean, Research & International Relations signs on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine

Procedure for Signing of Applications for U of T Administered Grants Guide for requirement of Dean’s signature (provided by Associate Dean Research or Vice Dean, Research & International Relations) All U of T applications to CIHR – Submission and approval are now electronic for all operating grants and foundation scheme applications For the remaining Open Operating Grant deadline (March 2, 2015) ResearchNet submits to Faculty Research Office. Upon approval of the MRA, the Faculty Research Office submits directly to CIHR. Those that are not approved electronically will need physical signatures. The Associate Dean Research signs on behalf of the President of the University and the Dean Obtain the University Department Chair’s signature first

Procedure for Signing of Applications for U of T Administered Grants Submission and approval are now electronic for these CIHR programs: Open Operating Grants; Randomized Control Trials: Mentoring; Proof of Principle Program; Knowledge Synthesis Grants; Partnerships for Health System Improvement (PHSI); Foundation Scheme.

Procedure for Signing of Applications for U of T Administered Grants Other Applications Requiring Dean’s Signature Includes applications for: Faculty Personnel Awards Ministry of Research and Innovation Other sponsors that request the Dean’s signature on their form When in doubt give us a call!

Procedure for Signing of Applications for U of T Administered Grants Other Applications Investigators submitting these applications are to obtain the signature of - the Chair of their University Department the University President (from U of T Research Services Office in McMurrich Building )

Procedure for Signing of Applications for U of T Administered Grants CHECK DEADLINE TIMES CAREFULLY!!! The University may establish an earlier internal deadline to allow for internal processing!
