Try to imagine a world without Walt Disney. A world without his magic, whimsy, and optimism. Walt Disney transformed the entertainment industry, into what we know today. He pioneered the fields of animation, and found new ways to teach, and educate.

Additional Facts about Walt As a child, Walt would draw pictures and sell them to the neighbors to make extra money. He lied about his age and joined the Red Cross at age 16 to help the war effort during WWI He married one of his first employees, pen and ink artist Lillian Bound. They had 2 daughters. The train at Disneyland, The Lily Bell, is named after her. Mickey Mouse was almost named Mortimer. Lillian thought it sounded pompous, and suggested Mickey instead. Disney personally won more Academy Awards, and had more Academy Award nominations, than anyone else in history. (Total number won – 22) Walt Disney founded the California Institute of the Arts, a college level professional school for all of the performing arts.
