What is Electricity? Electricity is the flow of electrical power or charge. It is a secondary source of energy which means we get it from a primary source of energy such as coal, natural gas, oil, nuclear power and other sources of energy. Types of electricity? Static and Current electricity

Electricity has been moving in the world forever. Lightning is a form of electricity. It is electrons moving from one cloud to another or jumping from a cloud to the ground. Have you ever felt a shock when you touched an object after walking across a carpet? A stream of electrons jumped to you from that object. This is called static electricity. Have you ever made your hair stand straight up by rubbing a balloon on it? If so, you rubbed some electrons off the balloon. The electrons moved into your hair from the balloon. They tried to get far away from each other by moving to the ends of your hair. They pushed against each other and made your hair move—they repelled each other. Just as opposite charges attract each other, like charges repel each other

Electric Energy (Electricity) – energy made up of moving electrons. Anything that uses a battery or gets plugged in uses electric energy! Electron – tiny particle of matter that has a negative charge.

An insulator is a material that resist the flow of electric current. A conductor is a material that allows the flow of electric current. How can sort conductors and insulators by creating a chart.

What is a an electrical circuit? What is a parallel circuit? What is a series circuit? Identify features of parallel and series circuit using a KWL chart. How we compare series and parallel circuit using a Venn diagram.

An electrical circuit is a network that has a closed loop, giving a return path for the current. A network is a connection of two or more components, and may not necessarily be a circuit.

A series circuit is a circuit where there is only one path from the source through all of the loads and back to the source. This means that all of the current in the circuit must flow through all of the loads.

A parallel circuit has more than one path for electricity to follow. Some parallel circuits has millions of paths to follow like a computer.

Why is it important to conserve energy? It is important to conserve energy because it reduces pollution. Natural resources are limited. We need to try to keep our planet clean for generations after us. Save animals from extinction. It helps save money.

Replace bright bulbs with energy saving bulbs. Use a timer or motion sensor to turn lights on and off. Turn off anything not in use. Unplug unused appliances. Try using more battery power.
