14. What does your animal eat? Seahorses are omnivores. They eat very tiny organisms like shrimp and plankton. They also eat pieces of plants like algae.

17. How big is your animal? Seahorses are very small. Adult seahorses can be anywhere from 2 to 12 inches long. The smallest type of seahorse is the dwarf seahorse, and it is 1.5 inches long. The largest type of sea horse is called the Pacific seahorse, and it is 12 inches long. Put a Picture Here

21. Pedagogy This is a lesson for 2nd graders about animal differences/biodiversity. I will start this lesson by teaching my students about biodiversity. I will tell them that all plants and animals are different in many. I will give them the example that plants use photosynthesis to make energy from the sun, while cows must eat grass to get energy. Then I will explain how each plant and animal has its own job and habitat on earth. After that, I will explain to them that I want them to create a PowerPoint with information about an animal. This will allow them to learn more about the differences between animals. I will show them two websites that have a list in which they can chose an animal, and it will give them facts and pictures of that animal. I will show them as a class how to use the websites before having them start the project. Then, I will show them the template of the PowerPoint and how to get to it. Next, I will show them how to copy and paste a picture onto the PowerPoint and how to change the size of the picture. I will also explain to them that they need to have at least two bullet points of information on each slide and that there information should be in complete sentences. In addition, I will tell them to write the facts in their own words in order to not copy exactly what the websites have written. I will write all of these guidelines on the board so that the students can refer to them while they are working. Then I will let them begin the project. I will allow them to choose whichever animal they want from either website. After they have finished with the project, I will have them each present their PowerPoint to the class. This will help the students share what they have learned with each other.

22. Content: The PowerPoint will need to include information about the following:  Animal group of the animal (reptile, vertebrate, bird, etc.)  The animal’s scientific name  What the animal looks like  What the animal eats  Where the animal lives  Facts about the animal’s babies  The size of the animal  Interesting facts about the animal  Explanation of why the student chose the animal  Five pictures of the animal  The web addresses of the two websites that I have given to them The PowerPoint template outlines where all of this information should be placed. The following rubric will be used to grade each PowerPoint. The rubric itself will not be given to the students but will only be used by me for grading purposes.

24. Technology The technology tools that I will be using are PowerPoint and the internet. The students will need to know how to use PowerPoint in order to go from one slide to the next, to type information into text boxes, and to resize pictures. The students will need to know how to get on the internet and type in web addresses in order to find specific websites. They will also have to have an understanding of how to navigate through these websites. In addition, they will also need to know how to change tabs in order to move back and forth between PowerPoint and the internet easily. They will also need to be able to copy and paste pictures as well as web addresses from the internet onto the PowerPoint.
