WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE Shakespeare's reputation as dramatist and poet actor is unique and he is considered by many to be the greatest playwright of all time, although many of the facts of his life remain mysterious.

WILLIAM BIRTHDAY ? William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire and was baptised on 26 April 1564.

WHO WAS HE ? He was one of the few playwrights who created both comedies and tragedies.

HE WAS AN ACTOR ? The writer also appeared as an actor, his group was called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, and later changed its name to King’s Men.

HOW MUCH ? He wrote 154 sonnets, as well as many works of other species.
