2 What is a “job application?” A job application is a form that asks questions about your skills, work experience, education and interests.

3 Your application for a job is going to give an employer his or her first impression of you. Here are some hints for filling out a job application. Don’t begin writing until you’ve read the entire application.

4 Follow directions. Be neat. Answer all questions truthfully. If a question does not apply to you, write “NA” for Not Applicable. This will show that you haven’t missed part of the application.

5 Be prepared to supply references. A reference is a person who will recommend you to an employer, such as teachers, neighbors and anyone you have worked for in the past. This person should not be a family member. Check your work when finished.
