BR*Tool News Major enhancement requirements
Support for MCOD configurations Support for RAC configurations Automatic desaster recovery Support of new Oracle features (e.g. Online Redefinition) Introduction of uniform menu-driven user interfaces Graphical user interface Character user interface Better integration of BRBACKUP, BRARCHIVE and BRRESTORE during database recovery Improved Quality
18

BRCONNECT Check and update statistics: brconnect –f stats
Replaces sapdba –checkopt | –analyze | –statistics | –delete Check database system: brconnect –f check Replaces sapdba –check Adapt NEXT extents: brconnect –f next Replaces sapdba –next Cleanup DBA logs: brconnect –f cleanup Replaces sapdba –cleanup
20
BRRECOVER Design decisions Main Functions
Complete redesign of SAPDBA recovery functionality Integration in the BR*Tools package New menu-driven user interface, including graphical frontend Significant funtional enhancements Main Functions Complete database recovery Database point-in-time recovery NEW: Tablespace point-in-time recovery (MCOD) Whole database reset Restore of individual backup files (Expert only) Restore and application of archivelog files (Expert only) NEW: Disaster recovery
21
BRSPACE Available in Q3-Q4 2003 for WEB AS 6.40 Space Management
Extend tablespace Create tablespace Drop tablespace Alter tablespace Show tablespaces Alter database file Move database file Show database files Object Management Reorganize tables/indexes (online) Alter table/index Show tables/indexes Instance Management Startup/Shutdown database (single instance and RAC) Switch redolog file Toggle archivelog mode Show instance(s) status Alter/Show database parameters DBSTATC exceptions for special objects overwrite the method defined with „-m“. If you want to ignore the DBSTATC settings, you can use other „-m“ options like „E=„ or „=X“ (see online documentation) The default database owner is SAPR3 / SAP<sid> (dependent on environment variable dbs_ora_schema). Available in Q3-Q4 2003 for WEB AS 6.40

Outlook WEB AS 6.40 and beyond All SAPDBA functions moved to BR*Tools
BR*Tools 6.40 package replaces SAPDBA completely (no SAPDBA shipment planned) SAPDBA will be maintained for older releases but not developed any more DBSTATC exceptions for special objects overwrite the method defined with „-m“.
