What is travel training A structured programme of 1-1 support tailored to each persons needs, that provides additional support to enable independent travel Can be destination specific or for general travel Variable length of training from hours – days – weeks

The Vision Set up pilot schemes to support, empower and liberate people with disability by making better use of public transport Use travel training as an opportunity to complement ISNT by promoting a better Demand Responsive Transport initiative for those who are not able to learn to travel independently

The benefits for disabled people Independence, empowerment and liberation for individuals and their carers Increased employability prospects Better access to education and health Enhanced social opportunities Supports potential for independent living Helps to meet Government targets Reduces transport demand on adult/children's services, the voluntary sector and demand responsive transport providers
