Overview Overview: The first game of golf was played at Bruntsfield links, in Edinburgh, Scotland in A.D. 1456. Golf is played with in the area of land that is designated by a golf course. The course is between 5000 to 7000 yards in the length. Each hole has a guideline for how many times it should take a golfer to hit the ball (known as stroke) to get it in the hole. Golfer who has the least number of strokes or is the closest to or under par overall wins. Course Design

Course Design: Front9 Front 9: Holes 1 through 9 on a golf course Back9 Back 9: Holes 10 through 18 on a golf course. Fairway Fairway: The short grass on the hole between the tee and the green. Green Green: The area of specially prepared grass around the hole, where putts are played. Rough Rough: Grass that borders the fairway, which is normally longer than the fairway. Hazard Hazard: Physical part of the course such as water or sand, where it is very difficult to play the ball.
