Stakeholder Involvement & Information Focus Groups – 7 regional groups across the state: Discussions – CMS – 4 other states People on the Go Maryland Disability Law Center Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council Arc of Maryland NASDDDS Web-based Questionnaire (1159 hits, 492 responses) Trend data (demographics, employment, labor, federal spending, long-term care, etc.)

What people said … Input and feedback …. People want : jobs, real jobs with real money friends meaningful relationships outside of where they work and live to be contributing members of their community Agencies want: to support people to live a life of their choosing flexibility

What we propose … Person Directed Services Individualized Supports personal development Foster independence Flexible Timely Fluid Systems in support of people Flexible funding Flexible regulations Creative options Note: Compliance and within established guidelines from Federal and State Statutes and Regulations and prudent use of State funding.

Current Efforts Strengthening DDA's Foundation … All DDA business practices are being reviewed/changed including: Application for services Plan development and resource allocations (Supports Intensity Scale) Services Natural and generic community services Medicaid state plan services (substantiated need) Low Intensity Support Services New Directions/supports waiver/Community Pathways – Request for additional services

Proposed Vision/Mission/Goals Vision All Marylander’s lead fulfilling lives enjoying the abundance of the state’s economic, cultural and natural resources. Mission DDA partners with people with developmental disabilities to provide leadership and resources to live fulfilling lives. Goals People with developmental disabilities… direct their lives; have viable support options; and, have information to make decisions.
